The Universe is Mental

The ancient Hermetic principle "All is Mind" (from the Kybalion, attributed to Hermes Trismegistus) is often misunderstood as "everything is just an illusion."
In reality, it points to something more concrete: our experience of reality is processed, created, and modified through mental states.

• Perception is mental.
• Belief structures are mental.
• Attention is mental.

And because your reality is filtered through mind, when you learn to transmute mental states, you change the way reality unfolds around you — first in experience, then often in results.

Magic, in this sense, is not fairy-tale wizardry.
It’s mental engineering: applying imagination, will, and altered states to reshape how reality manifests in your life.

Basically the universe is a stable mental picture from god’s mind (the all).  We're using the word "god" to refer to everything - which we will call "the all". And we are in the universe, just as the universe is the mind of god (the all), we are part of that godmind. Very logical.  We are a small piece of the total universe or mental image.  But also, this god (the all) is inside all pieces of universe, by definition, since it’s its mental creation.  And god (the all) is everything therefore it doesn’t make sense to ask what’s outside god (the all).

Weirdly, this very universal construct is very human oriented which makes everything very ambiguous and “who cares” and “what??”  if you don’t center it all on people and social interaction. That's the point. This is all psychology of relationships both external and internal.

• The Principle of Mentalism: Everything is mental (universe is gods thought, so, gods in everything)

• The Principle of Correspondence:  As above, so below (planes/contexts of existence/definition)

• The Principle of Vibration:  Everything is in motion, nothing  is at rest (energy everywhere)

• The Principe of Polarity: Everything is dual (except when it’s trinarity, ha!)

• The Principle of Rhythm: All is ebb and flow (seasons, earth, death/life, big bang, your emotions)

• The Principle of Cause & Effect: Every cause has its effects and every effect has its cause (duh)

• The Principle of Gender: Everything consists of masculine and and feminine qualities (wtf)

• The Principle of Mentalism: Everything is mental
  • god is All things, universe is gods thought, so, gods in everything and everything is mental.  We are partly god.  
  • So, we can have mind over matter and make things happen for ourselves!    (No shit Sherlock)
• The Principle of Correspondence:  As above, so below
  • It’s turtles all the way down (hierarchy: universe, galaxy, solar system, planet, human, cell, atom), same rules
  • Also, socially, we can raise ourselves to love instead of hate, 
  • things may appear different but are in essence of the same nature (so hate can be changed to love by shifting “vibration”)
• The Principle of Vibration:  Everything is in motion, nothing  is at rest
  • Every thought and emotion – our creative power - vibrates at a specific frequency, leading into the next idea.
• The Principle of Polarity: Everything is dual
  • Love/hate, hot/cold, fear/courage, by dev/increasing vibration (or emotion) of thought
  • All of our negative thoughts and emotions can literally be transmuted into their higher-vibratory pair’s positive
• The Principle of Rhythm: All is ebb and flow
  • It’s simply the idea of presence again.  we always have the option of getting present, not allowing the pendulum swing to be detrimental. We remain unaffected when we disallow fears/emotions/stress effect us negatively.
  • We can simply tune into love rather hate, courage rather than fear, and with practice, attain a peace of mind in even the most chaotic of times.
• The Principle of Cause & Effect: Every cause has its effects and every effect has its cause
  • Karma.  You do something, you set a chain of events in motion that will be the effect of your cause.
  • “The masses” are those who can not escape the effects of their heredity, influence of others, fears, etc., and “the masters” are those who can rise above the common frequency patterns of habitual (often negative) thought and behavior to literally become cause-makers on a different level altogether.  This is what “rising your vibration” really means.
  • Aligning with a higher frequency band by being present and aligned, we become catalysts of positivity in the world.
• The Principle of Gender: Everything consists of masculine and and feminine qualities
  • Feminine: if you receive but cannot give you’re imbalanced.  (In social interactions)
  • Masculine: if you give but cannot receive, you’re unbalanced (your goal is balance)

Hermetic Worldview - We Are Deities-In-Progress

The hermetic worldview is almost like a religion of growth mindset.  If you take “as above, so below” seriously, then the message is: you can do and have anything you want — you can become godlike — which means in conscious control of your reality — if you start learning and aligning yourself with what is above.

participate in the eternal drama of manifesting heaven on Earth - align with what is “above,” by transforming himself to be more like it, and more able to channel it into his life

3 planes - matter, mind, and spirit.  Matter is unthinking dead matter, to full divine brilliance of "god" (remember our definition?), which is pure spirit. In the middle is man.  We can look to the plane above us, and emulate it, learn from it, use our imagination to create as if a deity would. All this is centered as a metaphor for our own growth. 

• matter - dead matter may be animated by dynamics
• mental - thoughts are animated by thinking
• sprit - divine brilliance animated by enlightenment
